Hi guys!! First off, I want to apologize for my lack of posting lately. All I can really say is that life is like a whirlwind for me right now, so it becomes difficult sometimes to find time to post. But I promise to try my very best to post more consistently from now on!!

Ok, apology done, we are now friends again right?! Yeah?! Hooray! So lets move on to talking about this outfit. I will admit that I shamefully copied an outfit I wore a couple weeks back when putting this look together. I am just a sucker for mixing patterns, especially stripes ;)

-- En Español -- Hola chicos !! En primer lugar, quiero disculparme con ustedes por no haber publicado mucho en mi blog últimamente. Todo lo que puedo decir es que mi vida está muy ajetreada ahorita mismo y a veces es difícil encontrar el tiempo de escribir posts. Pero prometo hacer un mayor esfuerzo por publicar de manera más consistente de ahora en adelante!!

Ok, ahora que me he disculpado, volvemos a ser amigos cierto?! Sí?! Weee!! Así que ahora pasemos a hablar de mi outfit del día de hoy. Hi guys! Today I decided to finally check out the awesome Roadsters Diner that opened a couple of months back here in Panama. Believe it or not, this is one of the few diners that exist in the city and I was SO impressed with the awesome 50's vintage decor that they created, it was almost like stepping through a time machine! The food was classic diner food (fried chicken, hamburgers, waffles, and milkshakes) and it was absolutely delish. 

-- En Español -- Hola chicos! Hoy decidimos por fin visitar el Roadsters Diner que abrió en Panamá hace un par de meses atrás. Aunque no lo crean, esta es uno de los pocos diners en nuestro país y en realidad me sorprendió muchísimo como estaba todo decorado de los años 50's, era como viajar en el tiempo! La comida era la clásica comida de diner (pollo frito, hamburguesas, waffles, y batidos) y estuvo absolutamente deliciosa. 

I decided to wear this outfit that felt like a modern take on vintage staples like checkers (in the shorts) and my milkshake clutch (pure awesomeness, am I right?!). I had such a great time, can't wait to visit again!

Hi guys! I'm sure we have all heard that famous fashion rule that says black can never be combined with brown right?! Well, I'll let you in on a little secret... its totally not true!! Combining black with different shades of brown can look very elegant and modern. The easiest way to break this rule is by wearing a leopard printed article like this jacket, or a pair of leopard heels, for example. That way you have already introduced the black and brown color scheme and you just add more brown, black, and beige to match. Easy peasy right?! 

Do you like wearing black and brown together?

-- En Español -- Estoy segura que todos hemos escuchado de esa "regla" de la moda que dice que nunca se puede combinar negro con chocolate, cierto?! Pues, dejame contarles un secretito... esto es completamente falso!! Combinando negro y diversas tonalidades de chocolate se puede ver muy elegante y moderno. La forma más fácil de romper esta regla es usando algún artículo con estampado de leopardo. De esta forma ya introduces estos dos colores y solo hace falta agregar más detalles en chocolate, negro, y beige. Sencillo cierto?!

Hi guys! Here is a casual outfit I wore during the weekend. What could be more tropical and appropriate for a sunny day than a parrot printed romper and some mola espadrilles, am I right?! And I didn't stop there, I even added some bold tassel earrings and funky sunglasses. I know its a lot for just one outfit, but somehow I feel like it works :)

Hi guys! Lately I've been investing a lot of time in coming up with new ideas on how to improve my blog (hooray!); and one of the things I came up with was to share with all of you some book recommendations from time to time. Hopefully I can share some good finds that you can add to your book reading list!

To start off, let me tell you a little bit about this book I'm almost done reading called "A Beautiful Mess, a Photo Idea Book". If you are not familiar with Elsie and Emma from the blog A Beautiful Mess, I suggest you go check them out right meoowww! Their blog is all kinds of awesome with DIY projects, recipes, scrapbooking, and some fashion posts as well. 

In this book you can find tips on how to take better and more creative photos, which is something I am always actively seeking to improve. Everything from lighting, to editing, to background choosing is discussed but written in a way that is easy to understand. I definitely recommend this book! It will surely inspire you to think outside of the box when you are taking photos :)

Últimamente he estado invirtiendo mucho tiempo en pensar en nuevas ideas de como mejorar mi blog (weeee!); y una de las cosas que se me ocurrió fue compartir con todos ustedes los libros que estoy leyendo en el momento. Espero poder darles ideas de libros cheveres que les pueda inspirar a leer más!

Empecemos este nuevo segmento con este libro que estoy leyendo llamado "A Beautiful Mess, a Photo Idea Book". Si no conocen a Elsie y Emma del blog A Beautiful Mess, les sugiero que vayan a verlos de uuuunnna vez!! Su blog es estupendo con todo tipo de proyectos hechos en casa, manualidades, recetas, y también algo de moda. 

En este libro podrán encontrar tips y consejos de cómo tomar fotos creativas y de mejor calidad, lo cual es algo que siempre estoy buscando mejorar. Tocan temas como iluminación, editando fotos, y escogiendo fondos pero todo escrito de una forma fácil de entender. Sin duda alguna les recomiendo este libro para que se inspiren un poco de como pensar de forma más creativa en el momento de tomar fotografías :)

Hi guys! Here is a cutesy outfit I wore to brunch and to check out a new local doughnut joint called Q' Dona. I couldn't resist making an outfit with my adorable doughnut clutch knowing that I was going out to eat doughnuts because I'm corny like that. I decided to pair it with this fresh mint polka dot dress to make a candy colored type of outfit.... perfect for eating all them sprinkles :)

Hi guys! Here is an outfit I put together with this dreamy blue gown and a pretty floral kimono. I bought this dress a couple of years ago (see the first and ONLY time I wore it here!) and I never wear it because I feel like it should be saved for formal "special" events. I truly love this dress though (especially how it moves with the wind!) so I was determined to find a way to dress it down. I ended up pairing it with a floral kimono tied around my waist and some comfy flat sandals. I looooooove how it turned out! Now I feel super inspired to find other "fancy" pieces in my closet and see how to dress them down too!

-- En Español -- Hola chicos! Aquí les muestro un look que armé con este hermooosooo vestido azul y un lindo kimono de flores. Compré este vestido hace un par de años (pueden ver la primera y única vez que me lo puse aquí!) y nunca me lo pongo porque siento que debo guardarlo para ocasiones "especiales" y formales. Hi guys!! I know for a lot of you it is currently the Summer time (am I right?!), so I decided to come up with this bright and fun nails tutorial to suit the season! I'm loving how neon yellow and turquoise play off each other, they make a great pop of color in any simple outfit.

For this tutorial you will need:

• Neon Yellow and Turquoise Nail Polish
• A Nail Pen with a small side and a larger side

-- En Español -- Hola chicos !! Sé que para muchos de ustedes ya es la época de verano (cierto?!), así que decidí crear este divertido tutorial de uñas que son perfectas para la temporada! A mí me fascina como se ven los colores neones juntos, le dan un toque de color perfecto a cualquier outfit sencillo. 

Para este tutorial vas a necesitar:

• Esmalte de uñas amarillo neón y turquesa
• Una pluma para decorar uñas que tenga un lado chico y el otro grande

These nails are super easy to make as well, all you have to do is follow 5 easy steps:

1. Paint all of your nails neon yellow.
2. Dip the larger end of the nail pen into turquoise nail polish.
3. Imagine that your nail is divided in half horizontally. Then tap the nail pen on your nails to create polka dots on one side of your nail. About 4-5 dots is enough. 
4. Dip the smaller end of the nail pen into turquoise nail polish.
5. Now use this side of the nail pen to create smaller polka dots in between the larger ones (as shown in the photo). Be sure not to go out of that imaginary horizontal line that divided your nail in two.

Estas uñas también son super fáciles de hacer, solo tienes que seguir 5 pasos sencillos:

1. Pinta todas tus uñas de amarillo neón.
2. Sumerge el extremo más grande de la pluma en el esmalte turquesa.
3. Imagina que tu uña se divide por la mitad horizontalmente. Luego, usa la pluma de uñas para dibujar lunares en una de las dos mitades imaginarias de tu uña. Como 4 o 5 lunares es suficiente.
4. Sumerge el extremo más pequeño de la pluma en el esmalte turquesa.
5. Ahora usa este lado de la pluma para crear lunares más pequeños entre los más grandes (como se muestra en la foto). Asegúrete de no salir de esa línea horizontal imaginaria que divide la uña en dos.

Just repeat the same process on all your nails, and you are done! Easy peasy right?! I really love these bright nails for going to the beach or just for a casual Summer weekend. I hope you have all enjoyed this tutorial and I wish you a fantastic Summer!

Sólo tiene que repetir el mismo proceso en todas las uñas, y listo! Facilito cierto?! Me encantan estas uñas coloridas para ir a la playa o simplemente para un fin de semana casual de verano. Espero que hayan disfrutado de este tutorial y les deseo un verano fenomenal!

Hi guys! Here is a casual outfit I wore during the weekend with my new cute floral shorts from Forever21. I decided to keep it simple by pairing it with a basic black top and my fun polka dot wedges. I really love wearing shorts during Spring and Summer because they are soooo comfy and practical. Plus, who could resist shorts with cute floral prints and lace details like this one, am I right?!?!

Hi guys! Sometimes when I wake up on the morning I just want to wear something easy and simple... today was definitely one of those days. So I just slipped into this turquoise maxi dress (which was super duper affordable at Forever21 btw) and paired it with a matching turquoise necklace (actually two necklaces paired together, hehe). Just a simple outfit for a simple day ;)

-- En Español -- Hola chicos! A veces me despierto en la mañana con ganas de ponerme un outfit fácil de hacer y sencillo... hoy sin duda fue uno de esos días. Así que me terminé poniendo este vestido turquesa largo y cómodo (que casualmente estaba a super buen precio en Forever21!) y lo combiné con un collar grande en turquesa (dos collares juntos en realidad, hehe). Hi guys! Today I am wearing an outfit that kind of made me feel like a chic gypsy... and I must admit, I'm loving it! Lately I've noticed that I have been wearing a lot of outfits inspired by that relaxed bohemian style. Today, for example, I woke up wanting to make an outfit around this lovely tunic I received from Showinbuy.com. I really love all the lovely crochet details throughout the top, especially paired with more simple pieces like black shorts and beige accessories. 

I find it to be quite fun to experiment with different styles, don't you agree?

Hi guys!! Here are some hilarious photos I took at the "Mystery Hashtag" photobooth at Multiplaza Pacific. The mall is currently celebrating Vogue Live from the 1st to the 15th of August by hosting cool surprises throughout the mall, like this super fun photobooth! The game was that you were assigned a hashtag at random and you had 1 minute to find props and poses that would best represent the theme for the photo (hence the name "Mystery Hashtag"). Pretty fun huh?!

-- En Español -- Hola chicos!! Aquí les muestro unas fotos super chistosas que me tomé con mis amigos en el photobooth de "Mystery Hashtag" en Multiplaza Pacific. El mall está celebrando Vogue en Vivo del 1ero al 15vo de Agosto presentando todo tipo de sorpresas a través del mall, como este photobooth super divertido por ejemplo! El juego básicamente era que te asignaban un hashtag al azar y entonces tenías 1 minuto para encontrar "props" y poses para representar el tema que te asignaron (de ahí el nombre de "Mystery Hashtag"). Super chevere, no les parece?!

Apart from all the mini surprises, Multiplaza is also hosting a pretty awesomeness raffle. For every $100 spent in the stores participating in Vogue Live you get a ticket for a chance to win a .... tun tun tun.... (cue dramatic music).... Lincoln MKC Car!! Say what?!?! Soooo, that means the more I shop the better chances I get to win a car?! Sounds like a good enough reason to shop to me, excuse me while I go make it rain... haha. Just kidding, pretty awesome raffle though. 

I'm loving the new concept of Vogue Live this year! Below is a list of all the mini events they will be hosting, my fellow Panamanians should definitely go check it out! 

Aparte de todas las mini sorpresas, Multiplaza también está organizando un sorteo bastante chevere. Por la compra de $100 acumulables en las tiendas participantes en Vogue Live te dan un boleto para participar en una rifa por un..... tan tan tan.. (música dramática)... un automóvil Lincoln MKC!!! Que cooool! O sea que entre más voy de shopping, más chances tengo de ganarme un carro?! Hi guys!! Here is a comfy outfit I wore on a relaxed Saturday afternoon lunch date. It has been really hot and muggy here in Panama (hello rainy season!) so I decided to wear this romper that is made of a breezy fabric to keep myself cool in this incredible heat. I also try to lay off the heels during the weekends to give my feet a break. So instead of heels, I opted for these adorable beach printed sandals I bought from Asos.com a couple of years ago. I finished the look off by tying a scarf in my hair to add some much needed pattern mixing (I can't get enough!).

-- En Español -- Hola chicos!! Aquí les muestro un look casual que me puse para salir en una cita relax de almuerzo un Sábado en la tarde. El clima en Panamá ha estado bastante caliente y húmedo últimamente (buenos días época lluviosa!) así que decidí ponerme un romper en tela suave y airoso para combatir el calor. También trato de darle un descanso a mis pies durante el fin de semana; así que en vez de usar tacones me gusta usar lindas sandalias como estas que tienen un estampado de playa. Terminé el look amarrando una bufanda en mi cabello para introducir un segundo estampado a mi outfit, porque ustedes ya saben que estoy obsesionada con combinar estampados, jeje.

Hi guys! I'm sure most of you recognize this red and white skirt, that I fondly like to call my "picnic skirt" (lol!). As I put this one today, I thought: "What could be a more perfect photo location than food graffiti on the wall", am I right?! As if my picnic skirt and the food graffiti wasn't enough, I decided to also throw in my cute watermelon clutch to boot... geez, by the end of the photoshoot all I could think about was how hungry I was. haha.

Cuando me lo pusé hoy, pensé: "Qué podría ser un lugar más perfecto para tomar fotos en el día de hoy que un fondo de graffiti de comida", no les parece?! Y por si mi falda de picnic y el fondo de comida fuera poco, decidí también agregar a mi look este lindo clutch de sandía. Hi guys! Here is an outfit I wore on a relaxed Sunday, bike riding with my boyfriend at the Causeway. I haven't gone bike riding on this beautiful strip for yeeeears, so I wasn't really sure what to wear that would be comfortable, practical, and still very cute (it was a date after all!). 

In the end I decided to wear this breezy shirt dress with a pair of white shorts underneath. The sleeveless design and light fabric kept me cool under the hot Panamanian sun while the shorts kept me from showing anything I inappropriate, hehe. I also wore some comfy (but cute!) lace up oxfords to go along with the retro vintage vibe of the outfit. To add an element of fun, I went with this adorable mouse bag I almost never wear because it is just too darn small (but peeeerfect for bike riding because it didn't get in the way). It was such a picture perfect Sunday afternoon :)

-- En Español -- Hola chicos! Este es un look que me puse para un Domingo relajado de montar bicicletas con mi novio en el Causeway. Hace raaaaaato que no monto bici en esta hermosa área de Panamá, así que no estaba segura de qué ponerme que fuera cómodo, práctico, pero a la vez lindo (porque era una cita después de todo!). 

Al final decidí ponerme este vestido amarillo con unos shorts blancos por debajo. El vestido sin mangas y en tela aerosa me mantuvo fresca y libre de calor; mientras que los shorts me protegían de no mostrar nada inapropiado, jeje. También me puse estos zapatos oxfords porque son cómodos, lindos, y combinan bien con la vibra retro que tenía este look. Por último agregué un toque divertido con esta bolsa de ratón que casi nunca me pongo porque usualmente me parece demasiado chico (pero para montar bicicleta está perfecta porque no me incomoda!). En realidad fue un Domingo demasiado perfecto, la pasamos de maravilla ;)

Hi guys!! Here are some photos of the Vogue Live event I attended to this weekend at Multiplaza Pacific Mall. I always love events that give me a good reason to dress up in something glam, so I was happy to wear this awesome high-low dress I bought just recently online. The dramatic long side train really makes a statement while the shorter white side shows some skin and makes it sexy. Perfect for a night of champagne and good company.

-- En Español -- Hola chicos!! Aquí les muestro fotos de lo que fue Vogue en Vivo en el mall Multiplaza Pacific. Siempre me pongo contenta cuando voy a eventos que me dan una excusa para vestirme con mucho glamour; así que se imaginarán mi emoción de poder ponerme este vestido elegante en blanco y negro. Me encanta como el lado negro y largo llama muchísimo la atención mientras que el lado blanco y corto se ve sexy y coqueto. Un look perfecto para una noche de champaña y buena compañía.

I really enjoyed the new dynamic Multiplaza hosted for Vogue Live this year. Instead of just doing one very exclusive cocktail party like they did in Vogue en Vivo 2014, they made it more accessible to the public by creating several small surprises at the mall throughout a two week period. Plus, this year they raffled off a Lincoln 2015 car (which I sadly didn't win, meh)!! I hope they keep this up for future Vogue Live's as well ;)

Me gustó mucho la nueva dinámica que creó Multiplaza Pacific para el evento de Vogue en Vivo este año. En vez de hacer un solo cocktail exclusivo como lo que fue Vogue en Vivo 2014, lo que hicieron fue crear un evento mucho más accesible a todo el público a través de mini activaciones en el mall a lo largo de dos semanas. Además, este año rifaron un carro Lincoln 2015 (que lastimosamente no me gané, buuu)!!. Espero que sigan con este nuevo concepto de Vogue en Vivo para los años que vienen ;)

Hey there guys! Two weekends ago my family and I decided to take a mini-vacation to our house in El Valle, a mountainside of Panama. If you follow me on Instagram @thejoyoffashionblog, surely you have noticed that I have been obsessed with wearing hats lately. So today I decided to create this comfy outfit with a loose dress, flats, and my favorite hat of the moment. I also added a little shine with this tassel necklace I bought a couple of months ago. A casual but chic outfit for a relaxed day with my family ;)

-- En Español -- Hola chicos! Hace dos fines de semana atrás, mi familia y yo decidimos irnos de unos mini vacaciones a nuestra casa en El Valle (un área montañosa de Panamá). Hi guys! Here is a comfy outfit I wore on our second day vacationing in El Valle. I wanted to pack light for the weekend, so I decided to re-use the same shoes, bag, and hat that I wore on yesterday's casual outfit. All I did was swap the dress for a pair of jeans and a denim top and called it a day. I also wore some big tassel earrings just to add some personality to an otherwise simple look. It was the perfect outfit for exploring the fruits and flower market with my family.

-- En Español -- Hola chicos! Aquí les muestro un look cómodo que me puse para el segundo día de nuestro mini vacaciones en El Valle. Traté de empacar poco para el fin de semana, así que decidí re-utilizar el mismo sombrero, zapatos, y bolsa que mi outfit casual de ayer. Lo único que hice fue intercambiar el vestido por unos jeans y una camisa de denim y listo! También me puse unos aretes grandes de borlas para darle un poco de personalidad a este look sencillo. Me pareció el outfit perfecto para explorar el mercado de frutas y flores con mi familia.

I truly had such a lovely weekend with my family in El Valle, can't wait to go back!

Hi guys! Today I decided to go with this fresh outfit in white for a casual date of walking around Casco Viejo. I've been storing this dress in my closet for months and months waiting for the perfect day to wear it to Casco Viejo, and finally today was the day! I paired it with some simple sandals and a white hat to protect me from the sun. I also added this cool new watch I got from Jord.com that is made of Green Sandalwood and Maple. I love how it mixes a classic design with a more trendy and boho chic material (pretty wood!). 

This made the perfect outfit for walking around the romantic streets of Casco Viejo while eating some delicious coconut ice cream ;)

-- En Español -- Hola chicos! Hoy decidí ponerme este look fresco para un día relajado caminando por Casco Viejo. He estado guardando este vestido en mi closet por meses y meses esperando la ocasión perfecta para ponérmelo en Casco Viejo, y hoy finalmente fue ese día! Lo combiné con unas sandalias cómodas y un sombrero para que me protegiera del sol. También añadí al último momento este reloj que recibí como regalo de Jord.com hecho de Sándalo verde y madera de Maple. Me encanta como este reloj tiene un diseño bastante clásico pero esta hecho con un material más trendy. 

Esto me pareció el outfit perfecto para una cita relajada caminando las calles románticas de Casco Viejo y comiendo un delicioso helado de coco ;)

Hi guys! Today's outfit is actually a play on a black dress and tights outfit I wore two years ago! In 2013, I took photos in the same location, with the same dress, but with different tights. Back then I took the photos with our beloved dog Molly (RIP), and I thought it would be fun to pay homage to those photos by recreating them with our cute little Daisy. 

-- En Español -- Hola chicos! Mi outfit del día de hoy fue copiado de un look de vestido negro y medias que usé hace dos años atrás! En el 2013, tomé fotos en este mismo lugar, con el mismo vestido, pero con medias diferentes. En ese entonces me tomé las fotos con nuestra querida Molly (R.I.P) y pensé que sería divertido hacerle homenaje a esas fotos al recrearlas con nuestra perrita Daisy.
